Capturing Semitrucks’ Exhaust at the Source

Remora, a startup tackling carbon emissions from semitrailer trucks, faced the immense technical challenge of creating a viable mobile carbon capture device that could operate efficiently on a moving vehicle. To overcome this, they used MathWorks products including MATLAB and Simulink to design and simulate their complex system.

Using MATLAB and Simulink, the MathWorks tools enabled Remora's team to develop sophisticated control algorithms, manage a vast network of data inputs and outputs, and collaborate effectively between mechanical and software engineering disciplines. This approach allowed them to create a working prototype that captures up to 80% of a truck's CO₂ emissions, a feat previously thought impossible, and deploy the generated code onto their device's controller.
