Bosch and National Institute of Technology Calicut Collaborate on EV Course to Prepare Students for Industry

The National Institute of Technology Calicut (NIT Calicut) collaborated with MathWorks and Bosch to address a significant shortage of graduating engineers with the system engineering skills required by the automotive industry, particularly for electric vehicle development. This skills gap meant new hires often needed up to a year of on-the-job training before they could contribute effectively to complex EV projects.

Together with MathWorks, they co-created a new undergraduate course in Electric Vehicle System Engineering that heavily featured hands-on modeling and simulation using MathWorks tools like Simulink and Simscape. The solution was highly successful, eliminating months of required training for graduates, increasing course enrollment by 250%, and receiving overwhelmingly positive feedback from students.
