Batemo Develops Fast-Charging Li-ion Batteries Using Modeling and Simulation

Batemo GmbH needed to enable safe, fast charging of Li‑ion batteries without the time-consuming experimental testing that traditionally drove battery aging studies and risked lithium plating. To solve this, Batemo used MathWorks tools—MATLAB, Simulink, and Simscape—to digitize battery behavior and replace slow, unreliable lab and research approaches with a validated model-driven workflow.

Using MathWorks products, Batemo implemented a globally validated physical Simulink cell model plus an automated data‑collection and model‑generation pipeline. The result: parameterization for any cell type in weeks, simulations that run in seconds (enabling overnight runs instead of months of lab work), demonstrable global validity, and a precise, fast, safety‑compliant approach that speeds design and planning of batteries and charging infrastructure.
