Automotive Research Association of India Enables Virtual Testing of ADAS Application with Real-World Simulation Scenarios

The Automotive Research Association of India needed to develop and validate advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) for the unique and challenging conditions of Indian roadways. Their challenge was to test these safety applications across a vast number of country-specific scenarios, including high traffic volumes and unpredictable infrastructure, which is difficult and dangerous to accomplish solely through physical testing.

MathWorks provided a solution with a workflow based on MATLAB and Simulink, utilizing products like Automated Driving Toolbox and Lidar Toolbox. This enabled ARAI to collect real-world sensor data, convert it into virtual simulation scenarios, and perform extensive automated testing. The results significantly accelerated the development and validation process for ADAS functionality, allowing for safe virtual testing of complex and hazardous scenarios to help reduce accidents caused by driver error.
