A Mather Economics Case Study
Mather Economics worked with a large European magazine publisher that wanted to grow circulation revenue without making subscription price increases more aggressive than its existing in-house approach. The publisher needed a better way to understand which subscribers were most sensitive to price changes and how to improve renewal performance across its magazines.
Mather Economics analyzed subscriber history, demographic information, and reader interest data to estimate price sensitivity and recommend subscriber-level price changes on a weekly basis. The approach produced more than €100,000 in revenue savings for each of nine magazines and lifted average renewal rates by about 5% over 34 months, while pricing stayed below business as usual.
