National Industry for the Blind (NIB), the nation's largest employer of people who are blind, needed to move its website off an aging Drupal platform. The challenge was to create a fully accessible rebuild that would serve both visitors and NIB staff, who work at every level of vision, requiring the back-end content management system to be as compliant as the front-end. They engaged vendor Materiell for this web development project.

Materiell rebuilt the site on WordPress to meet strict WCAG AA and AAA standards, ensuring both front-end and back-end accessibility. This initial project grew into a long-term partnership where Materiell also provided managed infrastructure, hosting, and support. The relationship expanded to include additional sites and applications built on Next.js and React, all held to the same high accessibility bar. The result was a complete digital portfolio that NIB's entire team could manage independently, solidifying a multi-year partnership with Materiell.
