Why Sartorius Chooses Additive Manufacturing to Deliver Biocompatible Components

Sartorius, a long-established biopharmaceutical equipment manufacturer, needed a way to produce small series of biocompatible, traceable single-use components for highly regulated pharmaceutical production. To meet strict requirements around biocompatibility, extractables/leachables, and process validation, the company turned to Materialise and certified additive manufacturing.

Materialise implemented a certified AM process using PA 12, enabling Sartorius to produce complex end-use parts faster, with less assembly, and with repeatable quality and full traceability. Since 2018, the collaboration has delivered more than 26,000 single-use components, helping Sartorius speed product launches and support critical applications such as devices used in mRNA COVID vaccine production.
