A Materialise Case Study
Volum-e, a French additive manufacturing company that produces plastic and metal prototypes and end-use parts, faced slow, expertise-heavy metal support generation and difficult, powder-trapping support removal that impacted throughput and operator safety. To address these challenges, Volum-e trialed Materialise e-Stage for Metal from Materialise.
Materialise supplied e-Stage to automatically generate optimal open-grid, thin-connection metal supports; Volum-e reported an 80% reduction in support generation time and a 50% reduction in support removal time. On a large aluminum drone part they saved 1.5 working hours on support generation and two hours on removal, while recovering more powder, reducing HSE risks, and maintaining part quality thanks to Materialise’s solution.
