The Future of Personalization Looks Bawsome

Bawsome, founded by Max Malicki and Matt Tymowski, wanted to use 3D printing to create unique, highly personalized sunglasses that let wearers customize frame color and add personal messages. To validate and scale the idea they partnered with Materialise, drawing on Materialise’s design and engineering expertise, prototyping capabilities and its Streamics additive manufacturing automation and control software.

Materialise co‑created the product with Bawsome, iterating on hinge design, producing prototypes, and implementing certified additive manufacturing workflows, post‑processing (including on‑site dyeing) and final assembly so the sunglasses met eyewear industry quality standards. As a result, Bawsome now offers reproducible, customizable frames, lenses and personalized side messages with reduced post‑processing time and a faster path to market thanks to Materialise’s end‑to‑end support.
