The Cabrio Collection by Hoet Design Studio

Hoet Design Studio, a pioneer in eyewear design, faced tight constraints designing the Cabriolet Evo B—needing to combine aesthetics and functionality in extremely small geometries and with tight tolerances. Founder Bieke Hoet turned to Materialise and its 3D printing services to explore solutions conventional manufacturing couldn’t deliver and to take designs straight from paper to wearable eyewear.

Materialise used additive manufacturing to produce innovative snap-fit clips that attach the temple arms directly to the lenses and to enable intricate, curved eyecatcher accessories that injection molding couldn’t achieve. The 3D-printed prototypes proved stronger and more functional, let Hoet move immediately from sketches to production, cut traditional research steps, accelerate iteration, and deliver a comfortable, distinctive Cabriolet Evo B—paving the way for further collaboration with Materialise.
