Supporting Samsonite in Setting New Standards in Luggage

Samsonite Europe turned to Materialise to rapidly produce a high‑fidelity, textured 55 cm prototype for its new S'Cure suitcase line ahead of a major trade show. With injection molding too slow to meet the deadline, Samsonite needed a near‑final, display‑quality sample — including the textured shell plus functional latches, handles and wheels — to complete the 69 and 75 cm models already planned.

Materialise used its 3-matic software, Materialise e-Stage and a mix of additive manufacturing technologies (stereolithography and laser sintering) to validate detail levels, apply a uniform texture without manual finishing, and deliver a fully assembled, functional prototype in eight working days. The prototype was enthusiastically received by sales teams and trade‑show attendees, and the 55 cm S'Cure subsequently moved to mass production and launch across Europe.
