A Materialise Case Study

Preview of the Rimac Automobili Case Study

Rimac Automobili - Customer Case Study

Rimac Automobili unveiled the Concept_One, the world’s first electric supercar, and faced the challenge of delivering flawless, show‑ready components that would make the car stand out at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show under very tight timelines. To achieve the needed aesthetic and optical quality, Rimac turned to Materialise for precision 3D‑printed parts, leveraging stereolithography for transparent and high‑finish components.

Materialise produced steering wheel elements, LED head‑ and taillight guides and interior light strips in a series of small projects delivered on time—typically within six to seven working days over a 1.5‑month period—using high‑precision stereolithography. The parts gave the Concept_One the intended “wow” factor, helped secure strong media and industry attention, and supported Rimac Automobili’s transition toward limited production (88 cars planned), demonstrating Materialise’s capability for low‑volume automotive manufacturing.
