Pinovo - Customer Case Study

Pinovo, a Norwegian company developing corrosion-handling tools for the oil and gas industry, faced a challenge: move sandblasting from an open system that exposed operators and generated significant waste to a closed, safer, more eco-friendly solution. Pinovo partnered with Materialise to help design and produce the specialized parts and housings required for its PiBlast system and related tools.

Materialise used Additive Manufacturing (laser sintering) and the anti-static, resilient material Alumide to produce housings, hand-held tools and adapters for PiBlast (sizes 2–8 inches), delivering high flexibility and fast turnaround. Materialise has produced more than 1,200 pieces for Pinovo, enabling Pinovo to virtually eliminate operator exposure to maintenance-related pollution, cut waste by 75–90%, and respond more quickly to customer needs.
