Case Study: Peugeot UK achieves 3D-printed anechoic acoustic interiors for the FRACTAL concept car with Materialise

A Materialise Case Study

Preview of the Peugeot UK Case Study

Peugeot UK - Customer Case Study

Peugeot UK set out to create the PEUGEOT FRACTAL, a fully electric concept car that required a near-anechoic interior to showcase a spatialized sound system. Facing complex, highly textured interior geometries and a very tight deadline for the Frankfurt Motor Show, Peugeot UK turned to Materialise for 3D printing expertise and software support, including the Materialise Build Processor and production workflows.

Materialise sliced and optimized the complex design files, laser-sintered the interior trim in polyamide in its Factory for 3D Printing while Streamics monitored the workflow, and applied a flocked finish for durability and a soft feel. Materialise delivered the large run of intricate parts on schedule, enabling the anechoic interior that minimized noise and echoes and met Peugeot UK’s presentation deadline.
