A Materialise Case Study
OSSTEM IMPLANT, a global leader in dental implants with operations across Asia, the USA and Europe, needed a reliable way to convert patient 3D scans into printable surgical guides and models without requiring patients to be constantly present. Converting scans to 3D-printable files often produced files with holes and errors that caused build failures and extra cost, so OSSTEM IMPLANT turned to Materialise and its Materialise Magics data-preparation software to address these issues.
Materialise Magics was used to repair STL files, create watertight and hollowed models, and label parts before printing on OSSTEM IMPLANT’s Stratasys Eden 350 printer. By using Materialise’s software, OSSTEM IMPLANT improved STL quality, prevented build failures, and reduced time and costs associated with failed prints; the team also expects further savings in material and printing time as they extend Magics’ cutting and hollowing features.
