No Old Dinosaur KAYIWA’s 3D-Printed DINO Clothes Rack

KAYIWA, the Finnish design studio led by Lincoln Kayiwa, partnered with Materialise to produce the DINO 3D‑printed clothes rack. The challenge was to incorporate clear labels on each hanger while preventing trapped powder from laser sintering; Materialise supported the project using its data‑preparation software, Materialise Magics.

Materialise used Magics’ automatic and manual labeling tools and added three holes per hanger for powder removal, then concealed the removal points with K‑shaped 3D‑printed labels. The result—engineered by Materialise—was repeatable, production‑ready parts that can be numbered for public cloakrooms, contain no trapped powder or wasted material, are lighter due to powder removal, and are offered in three rack models and eight KAYIWA standard colors.
