Materialise Build Processor Rescues Steven Ma’s 3D-Printed Chain Dress Wedding Veil

XUBERANCE® founder Steven Ma set out to create the world’s longest 3D‑printed wedding veil — a 27‑meter piece made of thousands of tiny chain links — but ran into file‑size and complexity problems that caused service‑bureau machines to crash. He turned to Materialise and its software and 3D Printing services, including Materialise Build Processor (with data preparation and folding in Materialise Magics), to try to make the design printable.

Materialise applied the Build Processor’s fast, robust slicing technology and laser sintering services to process the large, intricate file without crashes; the veil printed perfectly on the first attempt, was unfolded and exhibited at Milan Design Week and the Materialise World Conference, and helped showcase XUBERANCE®’s work (with related pieces earning recognition such as the Salone Satellite Award).
