A Materialise Case Study
Sambon Precision & Electronics, a South Korean manufacturer of earphones, headphones, speakers and keypads, relied on 3D‑printed prototypes but faced a slow, error-prone data‑preparation workflow: CAD files from Rhino required extensive manual fixes and were often sent back to design or R&D, with complex parts taking up to half a day. To streamline prototyping, Sambon turned to Materialise and its Magics software.
Materialise Magics lets Sambon automatically repair common STL errors and handle tougher issues manually, cutting repair time to 2–30 minutes and saving an average of 3 hours per file; it also provides cutting, hollowing, wall‑thickness analysis and advanced build‑platform positioning so parts can be prepared and printed without switching tools. By using Materialise, Sambon accelerated prototype turnaround, improved build success and reduced material waste.
