A Materialise Case Study
Nissan Motor Corporation, which uses 3D printing to create prototypes and experiment with new vehicle shapes, faced lengthy, manual data-preparation tasks—splitting large parts, correcting thin walls, creating supports and doing interference checks—that could take days to months. To address this, Nissan adopted Materialise Magics software, including the Magics Sinter Module, to streamline its powder sintering workflow.
Materialise implemented automated splitting, wall-thickness analysis and correction, fine support generation, and automatic part placement with the Sinter Module, turning month-long manual edits into a few clicks. As a result, Materialise helped Nissan cut data-prep time by about 50% (in some cases described as reduced from months to seconds), halve part-splitting work, eliminate hours of interference checking, increase single-build capacity, and reduce labor, printer occupancy and material waste.
