How FITme Increased Productivity by 346%

FITme, a Korea-based manufacturer of patient-specific nasal silicone implants, faced long manual design times, high training costs, and limited ability to scale mass personalization. To address repetitive sketching and carving steps and reduce lead time for medical tourism demand, FITme partnered with Materialise and adopted its Custom Plugin Development and Mimics Innovation Suite (3-matic) to automate critical parts of the design workflow.

Materialise developed the FiTme Nasal Implant Wizard, a custom 3-matic plugin that imports segmented anatomy, auto-creates and aligns sketch planes, and generates implant profiles with a click while preserving engineer oversight. The result: a 346% productivity increase in the design phase, design time cut from about an hour to 15 minutes (with certain 3-matic steps reduced to 1–2 minutes), roughly $10,000 saved per new engineer in training, and the ability to scale to dozens or hundreds of customized implants across more than 130 partner hospitals.
