A Materialise Case Study

Preview of the Morrow Eyewear Case Study

How 3D Printing Helped Morrow Shape the Future of Eyewear

Morrow Eyewear, founded by Paul Marchal, needed to marry a cutting‑edge autofocal tunable lens with stylish, wearable frames while hiding delicate electronics and meeting exacting tolerances. To achieve the necessary design flexibility, strength and finish, Morrow turned to Materialise and its 3D printing expertise to produce frames that could accommodate the optics without compromising fashion or function.

Materialise optimized lightweight, production‑ready 3D‑printed frames, enabling rapid prototyping, tight dimensional control, accurate color matching and scalable on‑demand manufacturing. The collaboration — including designer Bieke Hoet — expanded Morrow’s offering to more than 168 frame styles, helped the startup move from R&D to full manufacturing (the team has quadrupled), and reduced working capital and end‑of‑season waste through made‑to‑order production, demonstrating tangible business and sustainability benefits from Materialise’s solution.
