HeyGears Creates Personalized Prosthetic Designs in Seconds with Materialise Software

HeyGears, an innovation-driven Chinese digital manufacturing company, designs 3D‑printed, intelligent prosthetic sockets and robotic hands that must be customized to each user’s forearm scan. The manual digital-design workflow took up to one day per socket, was error-prone and not scalable, so HeyGears engaged Materialise and its software team to automate the process using Materialise APIs and automation platform services.

Materialise built a custom API to automate the end-to-end workflow from point cloud to printable part, enabling one‑click updates, instant visual feedback, and repeatable parameter‑driven designs. As a result, HeyGears cut design time from up to a day to minutes (and in some cases seconds), improved consistency for mass customization, and freed designers to focus on innovation—delivering clear gains in throughput and scalability thanks to Materialise.
