Case Study: Avio Aero achieves aerospace AM process control, automation, and traceability with Materialise Streamics

AvioAero has Truly Created the AM Factory of the Future

Avio Aero opened a new additive manufacturing (AM) facility in Cameri, Italy to scale aerospace production but faced the challenge of matching traditional manufacturing’s quality, traceability and process-control standards across design, production and post-processing. To address this, Avio Aero partnered with Materialise and selected the Materialise Streamics system to standardize and automate complex AM workflows.

Materialise implemented its Streamics AM automation and control system, integrating it tightly with Avio Aero’s metal AM machines to provide process control, standardization, automation and end-to-end traceability. The Streamics rollout (now in its final phases) has streamlined AM processes across departments and locations, enabling Avio Aero to meet demanding aerospace quality and traceability requirements and accelerate the facility’s move from prototyping to certified production.
