Case Study: Avio Aero achieves lightweight titanium turbine blade production with Materialise Streamics and Magics

A Materialise Case Study

Preview of the Avio Aero Case Study

Avio Aero Thinks Additive

Avio Aero, a jet engine component manufacturer, needed to produce lightweight titanium turbine blades across different Additive Manufacturing (AM) technologies while meeting the strict automation, control and traceability requirements for regulated aviation parts. To address machine-capacity management and the complexity of preparing builds for multiple AM systems, Avio Aero partnered with Materialise and used Materialise Streamics alongside Materialise Magics.

Materialise implemented Streamics to manage AM machine capacity and provide the automation, control and traceability required for aviation qualification, fully integrated with Materialise Magics to optimise and efficiently prepare builds for DMLS and EBM machines. The combined solution enabled Avio Aero to reliably manufacture lightweight titanium blades with improved build preparation and workflow efficiency, while supporting traceability and multi-machine production across their Cameri plant.
