A Materialise Case Study

Preview of the Adidas Case Study

Adidas Futurecraftt he Ultimate 3D-Printed Personalized Shoe

Adidas sought to push performance footwear into a new era by offering 3D‑printed, personalized midsoles that match each athlete’s exact foot contours and pressure points for immediate in‑store fitting. To realize this Futurecraft 3D vision, Materialise provided its 3D printing software and solutions, including design and engineering with Materialise 3‑matic, certified additive manufacturing, and automation/control via Materialise Streamics.

Materialise designed a lightweight lattice midsole that improved flexibility without sacrificing rigidity or strength, and had the midsoles laser‑sintered in durable, flexible TPU through its certified manufacturing process. The Materialise solution delivered traceable, repeatable production for a consumer product, enabled bespoke performance tuning and in‑store 3D‑print ambitions, and demonstrated the viability of 3D‑printed end‑use footwear.
