San Francisco State University speeds battery materials modeling 2-3x with Mat3ra

Researchers at San Francisco State University, led by Professor Nicole Adelstein, needed to investigate the electronic properties of next-generation solid-state Li-ion battery materials. They turned to Mat3ra and used its mat3ra.com platform to leverage cloud-based high-performance computing for their quantum mechanical modeling.

Using Mat3ra's platform, which employed density functional theory, the research group was able to complete their calculations significantly faster than with other available computational platforms. Results showed that the Mat3ra solution was two-to-three times faster, enabling the university to accelerate its atomic-scale materials research.
