A Mat3ra Case Study
San Francisco State University, led by professor Nicole Adelstein, was studying next-generation solid-state Li-ion battery materials and needed a faster way to run quantum mechanical simulations of electronic properties. To tackle this challenge, the university used Mat3ra’s exabyte.io platform for density functional theory and plane-wave pseudopotential modeling.
Mat3ra enabled the team to perform benchmark calculations and compare performance against other platforms, including Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory systems. The results showed exabyte.io was consistently faster, delivering roughly 2x to 3x better runtime performance across the reported test cases, helping accelerate battery materials research.
