Validation a Focal Point in LifeCenter Northwest’s Implementation

LifeCenter Northwest, the federally designated organ procurement organization serving 8.1 million people across 200 hospitals in Alaska, Montana, North Idaho, and Washington, implemented MasterControl Documents and MasterControl Training to support its quality and regulatory processes. The biggest challenge during the rollout was validation: it was the team’s first time executing electronic-system validation, and they encountered bugs and testing hurdles that slowed progress.

To overcome this, the LifeCenter team worked closely with MasterControl’s Tech Support and Validation Services over a two-month validation period to resolve issues and complete testing, ultimately validating and going live in 2012. The project strengthened the team’s understanding of quality and regulatory affairs and highlighted the value of onsite consultant support or purchased validation services to avoid delays and meet go‑live targets.
