A MasterControl Case Study
Gift of Life Michigan (GOLM) is the federally designated organ and tissue recovery program in Michigan, recovering more than 900 organs a year and managing the state donor registry. Facing a hybrid quality system that left as many as 2,000 documents prone to becoming quickly outdated and a need for FDA compliance, GOLM launched a MasterControl implementation (Dec 2012–Aug 2013) that also had to overcome user confusion about system structure and gain broad staff buy‑in.
GOLM chose MasterControl’s hosted service, sent its core team to vendor training, and used onsite consultants to clarify configuration. They built a proactive, fun training program—using a test site, an exam with raffle incentives, videos and executive participation—to drive adoption. The result: within two weeks of go‑live 90% of about 200 users were trained, only one complaint was reported, and the organization achieved a smooth, compliant transition to a controlled quality system.
