A MasterControl Case Study
The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center faced a common implementation challenge: ensuring lab managers had the hands-on knowledge needed to make a new MasterControl system successful. Rather than sending staff to off-site classes, MD Anderson chose on-site training to better manage time, focus on systems configuration, and align instruction with their specific operational workflows.
MasterControl instructors spent a week on site using the standard curriculum but adapting lessons through team input and brainstorming. Training in the actual environment surfaced IT issues, enabled focused, real‑world discussions, and improved system configuration—leading both MD Anderson and the instructors to conclude that on-site training was especially effective and, when practical, a cost‑efficient way to boost user readiness and implementation success.
