Asymtek Successfully Migrates from Client Server to Web-Based MasterControl™

Asymtek, a Nordson subsidiary and world leader in automated fluid dispensing, designs and manufactures dispensing equipment for industries such as semiconductor and PCB assembly and is ISO 9001:2000 certified. The company relied on a manual document-control process—hand-delivered paperwork, spreadsheet-based numbering, physical change control board (CCB) meetings and a library checkout system—which caused misplaced files, long approval cycles, frequent meetings and no centralized reporting or controlled source of documentation.

In 2004–2005 Asymtek migrated from a MasterControl client–server system to the Web-based MasterControl platform, with MasterControl handling database migration and training and Asymtek going live on schedule in January 2005. The system now supports about 250 users and ~36,000 documents, halved average review/approval time, cut throughput 45% (11.5 → 6.3 days), reduced cycle time 37% (14 → 8.8 hours), and dropped ECOs requiring CCB meetings from 100% to 10%, while providing remote access, automated approvals, PDF publishing and an audit-ready, ISO-compliant environment.
