Van Buren Technology Center, a career training center, faced the challenge of preparing students for rewarding manufacturing careers in a region with a high demand for skilled workers. To equip students with the necessary hard skills, instructor Gabe Kooyers needed industrial-grade, accessible software they would encounter in the real world.

The solution was Mastercam, specifically its Mill, Lathe, and Educational Suite products. The implementation was supported by Mastercam's local reseller, Axsys Incorporated. The Mastercam Quick Part Series tutorials and simplified Quick Part Interface were particularly effective, allowing students to learn CAM fundamentals confidently and independently. The result is that graduates are highly sought after, with local industries actively recruiting them and some universities even offering to fund the engineering degrees of the center's graduates.
