Madtown Guitars is a custom guitar maker that specializes in creating innovative, handcrafted electric instruments. The primary challenge for this one-man shop was to find a single CAD/CAM software solution to design and machine its patent-pending Skidplate neck plate system and all associated fixtures, while maximizing productivity and efficiency without needing to constantly monitor the CNC machine.

The solution was implemented using Mastercam's Mill software, which provided powerful solids and surface milling functionality. By using Mastercam, Madtown Guitars could easily design, edit, and program toolpaths, allowing the owner to perform other tasks while the machine ran. This streamlined workflow eliminated the need for manual hand-shaping with tools like rasps and enabled the creation of multiple complex fixtures, effectively acting as a second employee and saving valuable time and money.
