The customer, IUPUI's School of Engineering and Technology, sought to enhance its Mechanical Engineering Technology program by providing students with more hands-on, real-world CNC manufacturing experience and external certification opportunities. Their challenge was to move beyond a traditional curriculum and engage students with increasingly complex CAD/CAM applications.

The solution was implemented using Mastercam, specifically its Educational Suite, Mastercam for SOLIDWORKS, and the Dynamic Motion milling feature. By integrating Mastercam University's online lessons, students gained proficiency and could earn certificates. Mastercam enabled students to successfully complete complex, real-world projects, such as reverse-engineering a micrometer and creating animated components for an Indy car transmission display. The software's Dynamic Milling and Verify simulation features optimized cutting time and ensured safe, efficient operations, greatly enhancing the students' practical learning experience.
