AMADA TOOL AMERICA, a tooling manufacturer, faced a significant challenge in streamlining programming and production for its highly diverse array of parts, which required different machine setups and timely changeovers. To address this, the company implemented Mastercam CAD/CAM software, specifically utilizing its Mill, Lathe, and Mill 3D products, aiming to standardize processes and increase operational agility.

By using Mastercam, programmer Ricky Streiff developed more intuitive toolpaths, including Dynamic Milling and 3D Contour. This solution halved the combined cycle and manual deburring time for a specific tool, cutting it from 110 minutes to just 55 minutes. Mastercam enabled deburring to be completed in-machine, improved surface finish quality, and reduced tooling costs by 58.5 percent, while also quadrupling tool life through more efficient cutting motions.
