Advanced Machining Technology Gives Don Schumacher Racing an Edge

Don Schumacher Racing, a premier automotive racing company, needed to design and manufacture extremely durable yet lightweight racecar parts with extremely tight tolerances to maintain their competitive edge. Their challenge was to balance the demands of safety at high speeds with the need to reduce overall vehicle weight.

The solution was implemented using Mastercam's CAD/CAM software, including its Mill, Multiaxis, and Lathe products. With support from their Mastercam Reseller, DSR utilized Mastercam's Dynamic Motion technology to dramatically reduce roughing cycle times, removing material at feed rates of 300 inches per minute. Tool Libraries and advanced Simulation features ensured accuracy and prevented errors, allowing them to machine complex parts in-house with precision and efficiency.
