Sinclair Broadcast Group Transforms Multi-Station News Content Sharing and Archive Workflows

Sinclair Broadcast Group, one of the largest television broadcasters in the U.S., needed a better way to archive and share news content across more than 60 newsroom operations using a mix of NRCS and production systems. Its challenge was to make daily video-and-story archiving, cross-station sharing, and content retrieval simpler for journalists while reducing manual steps and minimizing dependence on technical staff. Sinclair selected Masstech’s MassStore for News to work across platforms including AP ENPS, Avid iNEWS, Avid Interplay, and BitCentral Precis.

Masstech implemented MassStore for News with deep NRCS integration, automated behind-the-scenes workflows, and Video-Follows-Text functionality so story text and associated video stay linked as content moves between archives and stations. The result was faster, more reliable sharing and archiving, with transfers happening up to 10 times faster than before and Masstech-enabled newsrooms sharing over 2.5 times as many stories as FTP-based sites. Sinclair also reported improved access to archived and shared content, reduced manual labor, and more efficient use of newsroom resources across the group.
