WJLA, the ABC affiliate in Washington, D.C., needed a long-term news archive solution that could handle high volumes of content, keep archived material and news scripts easily searchable and quickly retrievable, and scale for future growth. The station also needed to switch newsroom computer systems from ENPS to iNEWS without disrupting access to archived content, so it turned to Masstech for News.

Masstech implemented a newsroom media management system that integrated with both ENPS and iNEWS, as well as WJLA’s playout and editing environment, creating a transparent bridge to archived assets. The solution now manages around 80,000 assets and more than 15TB of content, while archiving 450–500 stories per week in the background without disrupting workflow. Masstech also improved search and retrieval, supported cross-station content sharing, and is expected to deliver strong ROI by reducing operational effort and future expansion costs.
