Masstech Eases Archive Replacement and Media Management for EWTN

EWTN, the world’s largest religious media network, needed to replace its aging Avalon broadcast archive and StorageTek tape library without disrupting ongoing ingest, storage, and playout operations. The network also wanted seamless connectivity with its existing automation and editing systems, plus a path to efficient file-based workflows for future multi-platform distribution. Masstech for Enterprise was the vendor/product selected to support the transition.

Masstech implemented an archive migration and media management solution that moved EWTN from Avalon/StorageTek to a SpectraLogic T950 LTO library, while also transcoding Pinnacle-format files to MXF OP1a for Harmonic Spectrum playout servers. The result was a swift, smooth transition with minimal disruption: legacy databases were switched over quickly, archived content could be restored and transcoded on the fly, and integrations with Florical and Avid streamlined operations. EWTN said Masstech provided an automated bridge between disparate systems, was easy to learn, and helped position the network for future file-based, on-demand, and streaming workflows.
