A Masabi Case Study
The St. Catharines Transit Commission sought a more convenient fare payment method to speed up boarding and serve its over 5 million annual riders, moving away from an inconvenient cash-based system. They partnered with vendor Masabi to integrate a mobile ticketing solution directly into the existing Transit app, aiming for a low-risk pilot without requiring new onboard hardware.
Powered by Masabi's Justride SDK, the solution enabled riders to purchase and use tickets within the app they already used for trip planning. This integration allowed for quick discovery and adoption. After launch, mobile ticketing adoption reached approximately 7% of eligible riders in just over a month, with over half of transactions being single-ride tickets, successfully simplifying access for both regular commuters and occasional riders.
