A Masabi Case Study
The Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada (RTC) faced the challenge of making its bus services easier to use for the city's large and transient tourist population. While residents used the RTC's own mobile ticketing app, powered by Masabi, visitors were reluctant to download a new app for a short stay, leaving cash as their only inconvenient alternative. RTC partnered with Masabi to overcome this barrier to ridership.
Using Masabi's Justride platform and SDK, RTC cost-effectively integrated its ticketing into the popular Uber and Transit apps, which visitors already had on their phones. This solution allowed users to easily discover, plan, and pay for trips without needing the agency's app. The results were significant, with mobile tickets now accounting for nearly half of all non-cash sales and over 16% of total fare revenue, making services more accessible and driving month-on-month growth.
