Arriva Trains Wales (ATW) needed to expand ticket sales capacity beyond its limited ticket offices, vending machines, and onboard retail, without investing in costly new hardware or staff. The railway also wanted a flexible fare option for frequent but not daily travelers. To meet this challenge, ATW turned to Masabi and its mobile ticketing platform.
Masabi delivered a mobile ticketing solution using the JustRide platform and a Mobile Multi-Flex carnet fare, sold exclusively through the ATW app. The result was over 350,000 carnet barcode mobile tickets sold in the first year, with more than 11,000 tickets scanned by staff, reduced infrastructure costs, and better passenger convenience through anytime, anywhere ticket purchase. Masabi’s Inspect app and backend Hub also improved validation and data visibility for ATW.
