Case Study: Cookpad achieves faster prototyping and cuts product-design risk with Marvel

A Marvel Case Study

Preview of the Cookpad Case Study

How Cookpad uses Marvel to tackle the big risks in product design, early on

Cookpad is a 21‑year‑old community food tech platform with about 100 million monthly users, over 4 million recipes, and availability in nearly 70 countries and 24 languages. Its Bristol-based product teams run heavy user testing—often ~20 tests a week per squad—to reduce major product risks early, while needing a prototyping workflow that’s fast, simple, and easy to adapt for diverse international audiences.

To meet that need Cookpad adopted Marvel (with Sketch integration) and a dual‑track discovery process: designers move from whiteboard sprints to simple click‑through prototypes, iterate rapidly with product owners, and share builds with local community teams for in‑home testing. The result is faster validation with far less wasted effort—about 80% of prototypes are quick designer–PO iterations—enabling the team to learn quickly, improve experiences like search, and only ship features that prove real value to users.
