Case Study: Allied Waste Industries achieves a 70% reduction in workplace accidents with The Marlin Company’s Electronic Communication Station

A The Marlin Company Case Study

Preview of the Allied Waste Industries Case Study

Allied Waste opted for a high-tech communication solution to address an age-old concern

Allied Waste Industries, a major U.S. waste-management company, confronted a high-risk work environment at its Grand Rapids facility where employee accident frequency was 17 in 2004. With most workers offline and traditional bulletin-board communications going stale and ignored, the company needed a way to make safety awareness immediate, relevant and unavoidable.

Allied Waste deployed The Marlin Company’s Electronic Communication Station, a 42-inch flat-panel display that automatically rotates animated safety alerts alongside real-time news and weather to capture attention. By keeping safety messaging fresh and front‑and‑center, the initiative helped cut the facility’s accident frequency by 70% to 4.94 in 2006, earned the site a “Safest Shop” award, and reinforced a lasting safety-first culture.
