Sony Pictures Television—part of the $77B Sony empire—faced a highly complex sales‑to‑finance challenge: billions of combinations of title metadata, territories (190 countries), distribution types, languages, rights and billing rules, compounded by data sprawl, a retiring mainframe and the recent merger of U.S. and international operations with disparate systems and manual processes.
Sony implemented a MarkLogic Data Hub first as a conversion platform and then as its production Sales‑to‑Finance hub. The hub ingests and curates diverse sources without rigid schema changes, enables rapid deal analysis and contract‑breach detection via an intuitive UI, and cut validation time from 42 minutes to seconds. Users report much better visibility and workflow, driving efficiency gains and potential revenue increases as Sony moves toward a real‑time “digital river” for apps and analytics.
