The Haufe Group Implements a Cloud-based MarkLogic® Content Hub to Manage Complex Content

The Haufe Group, a leading German provider of digital workplace solutions and specialist publishing for HR, tax, law and related fields, faced fragmentary content spread across multiple silos—about 1.5 million mostly XML documents stored in Solr and relational databases. That fragmentation produced incomplete keyword results, duplicated content and slow, complex update processes, so Haufe set out to create a central content hub to unify data, automate document updates and improve search relevance.

After a proof of concept, Haufe deployed a cloud-based MarkLogic NoSQL database on Microsoft Azure with a services layer and API gateway for ingest, search and analytics. MarkLogic’s schema-less model and scalability consolidated the content into a single repository, enabled automated updates and linked, topic-aware search that provides a 360° view of content; the result was significantly improved, more granular search results, faster content production-to-delivery cycles and steady query performance (20–30 qps, up to 80).
