Suffolk Construction, led on technology by EVP/CIO Doug Myers, is transforming the construction experience by “building smart.” With a 35‑person IT organization supporting regional offices and field teams, Suffolk’s challenge was to scale reliably while breaking down data silos, improving productivity and safety, and delivering cloud and mobile services that enable higher‑quality, more predictable projects.

To meet that challenge, IT partnered across the company to deploy a mobile app for SOPs, adopt cloud construction‑management and image‑recognition safety tools, and build regional SmartLabs for earlier design collaboration. They also implemented MarkLogic as a NoSQL platform to ingest and harmonize structured and unstructured project, financial and contract data into a 360° project view — reducing rework, improving forecasting and accelerating innovation, work that helped earn CIO recognition.
