Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) needed a better way to aggregate and trace large, variable datasets spread across silos to support its mission of applied science and technology. Sponsor requirements now demand end-to-end traceability from design to production, but engineers’ siloed data practices made downstream validation and long-term discovery (beyond 6–12 months) nearly impossible.

LLNL implemented the MarkLogic Data Hub as a single, flexible platform to index structured data, store large files and metadata, and provide built‑in search and retrieval without forcing data migration. The hub serves as the integration “glue,” enabling rapid ingestion of time‑series data, easy connection to Tableau for visualization, and improved data discoverability—supporting a scaled-up engineering effort of more than 100 new hires and faster, more traceable analysis workflows.
