Fortune 50 Company Launches Metadata App to Accelerate Real World Evidence

A Fortune 50 Life Sciences company needed to accelerate real world evidence (RWE) generation but was hampered by fragmented, hard-to-find data and a manually curated SharePoint metadata catalog that only captured high-level summaries. Researchers wasted time sifting through decades of study data and millions of patient records because the organization couldn’t quickly discover data sources, locations, access rights, or the relationships needed to form hypotheses.

Working with MarkLogic and a consulting partner, the company implemented a metadata catalog on MarkLogic’s database platform to ingest and harmonize diverse data formats, expose relationships via semantic search, and surface metadata through Java and REST APIs. The new catalog lets researchers rapidly find and filter relevant datasets and patient cohorts, speeding RWE delivery, improving data governance, and accelerating product development across the organization.
