Fairfax County Increases Its Ability to Promote Open Government While Reducing Costs

Fairfax County, Virginia — one of the nation’s largest and most populous counties — struggled to respond to high volumes of constituent requests for property history, zoning and land‑use information that lived in disparate databases, file systems and formats. Fairfax implemented a land‑use data repository on MarkLogic’s Enterprise NoSQL platform, using its embedded search and application services to consolidate heterogeneous data (first phase completed in two months).
